Following her success in her university's poster competition last year, Maria has once again proven her talent for science communication, winning the People's Choice award in the 2023 UCL Doctoral School's poster competition.
She also made it to the finals of her department's 'three-minute thesis' competition. We asked Maria for her top tips, and she thinks it's important to keep in mind what you would want to see:
I always design posters keeping in mind what I personally find engaging from others. I have to admit, I am someone who can find it challenging to focus, so if something doesn't immediately grab my attention, my focus tends to drift away. That's why I strive to create posters that cater to people like me - aiming to hold their attention and keep them engaged until the very end.
